Stages of Parkinson’s Disease
Parkinson’s
disease is neuro-degenerative condition which impact individuals in different
ways. As per neurologist doctor it’s not necessary that each patient would feel
same intensity of symptoms. PD progress in 5 stages which are briefly described
below:
Stage 1
Mild
symptoms would be visible like tremors in hands, or slight change in posture
while walking.
Stage 2
At this
stage symptoms will worsen and one may face difficulty in walking, and also
experience reduced facial expressions.
Stage 3
Now
symptoms like slowness of movement would be more visible, and PD patient would
find it difficult to perform daily tasks like bathing, eating, or changing
clothes.
Stage 4
This is
advance stage of Parkinson Disease where independence is lost, and one cannot
survive without assistance.
Stage 5
In final
stage of Parkinson’s Disease one can’t walk without the assistance of walker or
cane. Advanced stiffness in legs can cause freezing upon standing. Patient at
this stage require wheelchair.
